Who We Are
Expanding the World Through Soccer in Christchurch
Our Mission
Our mission is
“to expand the world through football.”
We aim to develop young players’ skills while teaching teamwork,
cultural understanding, and a love for the game.
Our Philosophy
At Glocal Football, we believe football is a tool to expand perspectives.
Having experienced different football cultures in Japan and abroad,
we know that there is no single correct way to play or learn the game.
That is why we focus on decision-making, individuality,
and understanding the game rather than simply following instructions.
Our goal is not only to develop better players,
but to help young players become adaptable, thoughtful learners
who can thrive in any environment.
Three Principles
To bring our philosophy into real training,
we focus on three core principles.

Think before Acting
We encourage players to think and make decisions on their own.
Every training session includes decision-making,
helping players understand the game rather than just follow instructions.
Player-centered development
Every player develops at a different pace.
We welcome all players, no tryout.
By keeping our groups small,
we can focus on each individual and support their unique growth.

Open-minded
Football is played differently around the world.
We value learning from different football cultures and encourage players to see the game from multiple perspectives.
These principles shape how we design our training,
how we communicate with players,
and how we support their growth both on and off the pitch.
Our Methods
Glocal Football uses a unique training approach to help young players develop quickly and effectively.

Play with top players
Players have the opportunity to train and play alongside active, competitive players.

Decision-Making in Every Training
Every exercise includes choices that teach players to read the game and react independently.

Coordination & Physical Training
Fun, age-appropriate exercises that improve agility, balance, and overall athleticism.
Member Only Training Video
Members-only Training Videos
We provide exclusive training videos for our members,
allowing players to review their own performance after each session.
By watching themselves play, players can better understand
their decisions, movement, and positioning,
helping them learn and improve beyond the training ground.

Our Story
Founded by Coach Yuya, who played and coached in Japan, Australia, Spain and New Zealand.
Glocal Football was created to provide local players in Christchurch with a global perspective.
Message
”I grew up in Japan and played football exclusively with Japanese people in Japan for 22 years
until I graduated from university.
To fulfil my yearning to go abroad, I have been playing football
in New Zealand, Australia and Spain since 2020.
And I have experienced many “differences” through playing football abroad.
It is language, culture and many other differences.
And football reflects and expresses these differences in style.
I am fascinated by these “differences” and, above all,
these “differences” in the world have broadened my way of thinking.
I would like to bring the vastness of the world I have experienced through football and create a global environment locally to encourage children’s interest in the world.”

Why Choose Us
Here is a reason why we are not a “club”.
To be honest, we believe every child SHOULD play football for a club.
Clubs provide competition, teamwork, and a drive to win —
values that build discipline, communication, and real-life resilience.
However, in environments with limited weekly sessions,
team priorities often call for collective tactics over individual development.
That’s where Glocal adds value:
we focus on the “football brain” — a player’s ability to make smart decisions,
solve problems independently, and express confidence on the pitch.
We are not a club. We are a place where players strengthen
what club sessions often cannot fully nurture.
