Chatham Cup Final: Glocal Football Coaches Take the Stage
We’re proud to share that both Yuya and Marina, coaches at Glocal Football, will be playing in the Chatham Cup Final — New Zealand’s premier football knockout competition — this Saturday, September 5, 2026.
The match kicks off at 4:00pm at One New Zealand Stadium, Christchurch’s brand-new venue, hosting its very first football match. It’s part of a double-header alongside the Kate Sheppard Cup Final (women’s) at 1:00pm.
Around 6 Japanese players will feature across both finalist teams — a rare chance to watch Japanese footballers compete at the highest level, right here in Christchurch.
Entry is free. Come support our coaches and be part of a historic day for football in Ōtautahi!

Marina Ishimoto
We’re excited to welcome Marina to the Glocal Football coaching team!
Born and raised in Japan, Marina brings a strong foundation in Japanese football culture and technique.
She’s taken her game abroad, gaining valuable playing experience in Australia and England — bringing a truly international perspective to our sessions.
Currently playing as a Midfielder (MF) for Cashmere Technical FC, Marina continues to sharpen her skills on the pitch every week.
And beyond her football skills, Marina genuinely loves working with kids — she brings patience and energy that make every session fun and welcoming.
We can’t wait for you all to meet her on the field!

🇯🇵⚽ JAPANESE FOOTBALL CAMP 2026 ⚽🇯🇵
We are thrilled to announce that our popular Japanese Football Camp is back for 2026!
This is a unique opportunity for young Japanese players to train and play alongside Japanese footballers currently competing in New Zealand’s top league (Southern League).
Beyond sharpening their football skills and learning professional techniques, participants will also have a fantastic opportunity to experience Japanese football culture and hear firsthand what it’s like to play at the highest level.
Whether your child wants to take their game to the next level or simply loves playing football,
all players are welcome!
Our Training
We focus on Individual Tactics, Skill and
Athletic ability for U-11.
The “Golden Age” in football, typically from ages 9 to 12, is when children are most receptive to learning new skills due to rapid neural development. Practicing technique during this period is crucial, as skills learned are retained more effectively and form a strong foundation
for future growth.
And for children aged U-11 years, it is important to improve their motor skills. At Glocal, we train with a ball, using a menu that connects the ‘ brain’ and the ‘body’. The training is not limited to footballs, but also includes a variety of other physical activities.
Most importantly, the better you get at it, the more fun football becomes!
We focus more on Group Tactics (2-5 players)
for U-14.
In football, group tactics are essential as they enable players to work together effectively, creating synergy on the field. By understanding each other’s roles and movements, players can anticipate actions, maintain possession, and break down opposing defences more easily.
And from this age group, more practical guidance is provided. In particular, we aim to improve situational decision-making and problem-solving skills by asking the WHY of every play. Players who can think for themselves on the pitch are good players who are valued in any environment.

Our own coach Shogo moved to next journey.
Born and raised in Japan, Shogo is a talented striker with rich international experience, having played in Australia and Lithuania, where he developed his skills and gained a truly global perspective on the game.
This year, he has joined Christchurch United, where he’s been making a strong impact on the pitch with his performances throughout the season.
Shogo brought not only high-level playing experience but also a deep understanding of different football cultures. His journey perfectly embodies Glocal’s spirit of “Global × Local”, connecting the world through the game we love.
