Glocal Football Coaching

Glocal Football is a community in Christchurch
where kids aged U-14 can develop their football skills, learn teamwork,
and experience international coaching methods
—all in a fun, inclusive environment.

Expand the world through Football

Throughout my life abroad I have seen many differences, not only in football,
but also in language, education and culture etc…
And we think knowing those “differences” has broadened perspective and enriched our life.

Training Session

We train in small groups of 1-10 players. By training in small groups, we coach more details on individual and group tactics and techniques that are important in football.
We aim to tell the importance of ‘Thinking WHY’ while enjoying the game of football.

For U-11, training will focus on individual tactics. This age group is also known as the ‘golden age’ and is considered a very important period for developing technique. The aim is to improve athleticism together with the ball. Of course, they also enjoy playing football.

For U-14, we focus training on to understand group tactics (2-5 players), which are important in football. Cognition and situational awareness are important in order to demonstrate skills in the game. Coaches, who are also top players, play alongside the players to help them acquire more practical skills.

Special Japanese Football Event

We held a special Japanese football event with all Japanese players in Christchurch last year. It was a splendid event that created an opportunity for active footballers who grew up in Japan and have played overseas to play alongside children growing up in Christchurch.
